Volunteer Tree Planting Event

Help the Office of Sustainability plant over 900 trees!

In the spirit of artist Joseph Beuys's 7,000 Oaks project, which inspired UMBC's Joseph Beuys Sculpture Park and the Joseph Beuys Tree Partnership, there is another campus tree-planting opportunity we wish to help our colleagues in the UMBC Office of Sustainability and Campus Planning promote...

UMBC's Office of Sustainability and Campus Planning are excited to offer a tree planting volunteer program to help increase the tree canopy of our campus! Thanks to a generous grant from the Chesapeake Bay Trust, we have over 900 trees coming to campus and we need your help! See below for dates and time slots available to volunteer. If you are interested, please sign up using this Google Form. Friends and family members are welcome. Meeting location will be outside the Chesapeake Employers Insurance Arena!

Please wear clothes that can get dirty and close-toed shoes. All tools and equipment will be provided.

  • Thursday, October 19th between 12pm and 2pm
  • Friday, October 20th between 10am and 12pm

Additionally, as part of the grant, there is a competition for multimedia storytelling related to your time volunteering - so think of creative ways to capture photos, videos, and more if you would like to contribute!

If you have any questions, please reach out to Molly Power in our Planning Office at mpower@umbc.edu.
