Antoni Muntadas: Activating Artifacts – Interpretation, Translation, Education
Feb. 2 – March. 10, 2017
Antoni Muntadas: Activating Artifacts – Interpretation, Translation, Education addresses the gradual but steady shift in academia, from the initial American Ideal of mass public education, which developed in the 19th and 20th centuries, towards an increasingly privatized and corporatized form of knowledge production as we know it today. The exhibition is organized by Niels Van Tomme, Director of De Appel Arts Centre, Amsterdam and Visiting Curator for the Center for Art, Design, and Visual Culture, UMBC.
Generous support for the Center for Art, Design and Visual Culture’s presentation of Antoni Muntadas: Activating Artifacts comes from the Maryland State Arts Council and the Baltimore County Commission on Arts and Sciences.
